DimSum Takeoff Subscription and Refund Policy
In plain words. You buy from Paddle, our reseller, which handles payment, tax, invoices and refunds. A Workspace license is $600 a year with one seat and every feature; each extra seat is $400 a year. Both renew every year until you cancel. For a limited time, sign up and DimSum is free until a set date (today: sign up by December 31, 2026 and it’s free until January 1, 2027), with a second seat free for as long as you subscribe; no card to start. After the offer, try DimSum free for 14 days first. If you’re not happy with your first purchase, ask for a refund within 14 days. If you stop paying, DimSum goes read-only and nothing is deleted. DimSum Cloud, when it arrives, is billed monthly or yearly, isn’t refunded (credits instead), and keeps your stored copies for 3 months after you cancel. This summary isn’t part of the policy; the numbered sections are.
Definitions. This policy is part of the agreement described in the Terms of Service (the “Terms”), and capitalized words have the meanings in Terms section 1. “Workspace License” means the yearly license for a Workspace, including its first Seat; “Extra Seat” means each Seat beyond the first; “Cloud Plan” means a DimSum Cloud subscription, per user or the Workspace package. If this policy and the Terms conflict about Fees, billing, renewals or refunds, this policy wins.
1. Paddle is the merchant of record
- Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides customer service for orders and payments, and handles returns and refunds.
- When you buy, your contract for the purchase is with Paddle, and Paddle’s buyer terms apply to it.
- Paddle takes the payment, works out and collects sales tax, VAT or GST where it applies, and issues invoices and receipts. Paddle’s name, not ours, may appear on your card statement.
- Your License to use DimSum is with Planbase Estimating LLC, under the EULA and the Terms. Product support comes from us (see the Service Level and Support Policy).
2. Prices
- Workspace License: US$600 a year. The Workspace, 1 Seat, every feature, and all Updates during the year.
- Extra Seat: US$400 a year each, for one more named User.
- Free Launch Offer (limited time): the Workspace License free for a Free Period, plus a free Bonus Seat (section 3.1).
- Enterprise: talk to us. For companies with 25 or more Seats, by application, under a separate agreement (section 13).
- DimSum Cloud, per user (when available): per User, at the price shown when you subscribe, billed monthly or yearly, with up to 50 GB of storage for that User, cloud sync and the Remote Workstation.
- DimSum Cloud Workspace package (when available): per Workspace, at the price shown when you subscribe, billed monthly or yearly, for any number of Users in the Workspace, with 1 TB of storage shared by the Workspace, cloud sync and the Remote Workstation.
Other rules:
- Prices are in US dollars and don’t include tax, which Paddle adds at checkout where it applies.
- The Workspace License and Extra Seats are billed yearly. Cloud Plans are billed monthly or yearly (section 10).
- One edition: every plan has every feature. DimSum Cloud adds online services, not software features.
- Promotions, discounts and coupons apply only as stated when offered, and only to the purchase they’re offered for.
3. The Free Launch Offer and the free Trial
3.1 The Free Launch Offer
- What you get. For a limited time, a new Workspace gets the Workspace License (1 Seat, every feature) free for a Free Period, plus one Bonus Seat free. No payment details are needed to start, and exports carry no “DimSum Trial” mark.
- The dates. The sign-up deadline and the end of the Free Period are as stated on the offer page and at sign-up, and the Portal shows your Workspace’s end date. Today’s offer: sign up by December 31, 2026 (US Central time); free until January 1, 2027; then US$600 a year. A Free Period is never shorter than 14 days.
- The Bonus Seat is free from sign-up for as long as the Workspace License continues, including after the Free Period. After it, US$600 a year covers both Seats. The Bonus Seat is never billed, has no cash value and can’t be moved to another Workspace. If the Workspace License lapses, the Bonus Seat is kept if you buy the Workspace License again within 90 days of the lapse; after that it ends.
- More Seats aren’t free. Each Extra Seat beyond those two is US$400 a year from the day you add it, prorated to the end of the Free Period (section 4).
- When the Free Period ends. It doesn’t turn into a paid Subscription by itself. With no Subscription, DimSum becomes read-only until you buy (section 7). If you bought Extra Seats or the Workspace License during the Free Period, that Subscription renews at the end of the Free Period for the Workspace License and your paid Seats, until you cancel (section 5). We email the Admins before the Free Period ends.
- One per company. A person who created, or is a Member of, a Workspace that already had the offer gets the Trial for any new Workspace. We may refuse the offer, or end a Free Period early on notice, if it’s used to get more than one Free Period for the same company, for example by creating new Workspaces.
- We may change or end the offer for Workspaces created later. A Workspace keeps the end date it was given.
3.2 The free Trial
- After the offer, each new Workspace gets a 14-day Trial with every feature. No payment details are needed.
- Everything printed or exported as PDF during the Trial carries a small “DimSum Trial” mark, and CSV exports carry a “DimSum Trial” first row.
- The Trial doesn’t turn into a paid Subscription by itself: you’re only charged if you buy.
- When the Trial ends, DimSum becomes read-only until you buy (section 7). Nothing you made is deleted.
- One Trial per company (Workspace). We may extend a Trial at our discretion, for example for a delayed evaluation.
4. Seats
- Each Seat is for one named User, who can use DimSum on 2 computers at once.
- Only a Workspace Admin can add or remove Seats, and assign or reassign them.
- Adding a Seat during the year: charged pro rata for the rest of the current year, so every Seat renews on the Workspace’s one renewal date (Paddle prorates the charge).
- Adding a Seat during a Free Period: charged from the day it’s added, prorated to the end of the Free Period, so it renews with the Workspace License on one date. For example, a Seat added with 6 months left costs US$200.
- Removing a Seat takes effect at the next renewal. Until then the Seat stays paid and usable; there’s no refund or credit for the rest of the year (except under section 8).
- Reassigning a Seat (for example when someone leaves) is free, but not a way to share one Seat among several people (Terms section 4.4).
5. Renewals
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each term, for the same Seats and Cloud Plan, at the then-current price, charged by Paddle to the payment method on file, until you cancel (section 6).
- Reminders: we or Paddle email the Workspace’s Admins and billing contact a reminder 30 days before each yearly renewal, with the date, the amount (before tax) and how to cancel. Monthly Cloud renewals get no separate reminder; each receipt says when the next charge is.
- End of a Free Period: if you have a Subscription (because you bought Extra Seats or the Workspace License during the Free Period), its first renewal is at the end of the Free Period, for the Workspace License and your paid Seats. The reminder above is sent before it. With no Subscription, nothing is charged; we email the Admins 30 days, 7 days and 1 day before the Free Period ends.
- Price changes apply from the next renewal after at least 30 days’ notice. You can cancel before the renewal if you don’t agree.
- Failed payments: if a renewal payment fails, Paddle retries for 14 days. During that time DimSum keeps working with a “payment problem” notice. If payment still fails, the Subscription lapses (section 7).
6. Cancelling
- A Workspace Admin can cancel at any time, from the Portal’s Billing page (run by Paddle) or by emailing support@planbaseestimating.com.
- Cancelling stops the next renewal. DimSum keeps working until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
- Cancelling is not closing your Account. Your Account, Workspace and files stay; see section 7.
- Cancelling the Workspace License doesn’t cancel a Cloud Plan, and cancelling a Cloud Plan doesn’t cancel the Workspace License. Cancel each one you want to stop.
7. When a Subscription or a Free Period ends
- DimSum becomes read-only. You can open jobs to look at them, print and export (with a “DimSum — license expired” mark after a paid Subscription or a Free Period, or “DimSum Trial” after a Trial). You can’t edit, create, import or save. Nothing in your Account is deleted or changed.
- Critical Updates only. A read-only copy still receives Critical Updates, but not other Updates, until you renew.
- Renew at any time and everything carries on where you left it.
- Getting your data out: an Admin can ask for Download all my data at any time while the Account is open, by writing to support@planbaseestimating.com, to get every file the Workspace owns, unlocked, so it can still be viewed read-only; we send it within 30 days. Your job files are already on your computers.
- Closing a lapsed Account: we don’t close a lapsed Account for 24 months after the lapse, and we email the Admins at least 30 days before closing it. After closure, data is kept for 90 days and then deleted, except what we must keep by law (Terms section 13.4 and Data Retention and Deletion).
- A Cloud Plan follows its own rules when the Workspace License lapses (section 10).
8. Refunds
- First purchase: if DimSum isn’t right for you, ask for a full refund within 14 days of your first payment for a Workspace License.
- Renewals: a full refund within 14 days of an automatic yearly renewal, if you tell us you didn’t mean to renew and haven’t edited a job since the renewal.
- Extra Seats: refundable within 14 days of purchase if the Seat was never assigned to a User; otherwise not.
- DimSum Cloud: not refunded (section 10).
- Outside these windows, payments aren’t refunded, except where the law requires or where we choose to make an exception.
- How to ask: email support@planbaseestimating.com with your Workspace name and Paddle receipt or order number, or use the link on your Paddle receipt to contact Paddle.
- Refunds are paid by Paddle to the original payment method, usually within 5 to 10 business days of approval depending on your bank. Paddle may also refund on its own under its buyer terms (for example to resolve fraud or prevent a chargeback).
- After a refund, the License or Seats refunded end, and DimSum becomes read-only as in section 7. Your files are kept as in section 7.
- Consumer rights: DimSum is sold for business use (Terms section 2.6). If you have rights under consumer law that can’t be waived (for example a right to withdraw from a distance contract), nothing here takes them away.
9. Chargebacks and payment disputes
- Please contact us or Paddle before disputing a charge with your bank; we can usually sort it out faster.
- Paddle handles chargebacks and disputes as the merchant of record, and we give Paddle the information it asks for.
- While a chargeback or dispute is open, we may lock the Workspace: DimSum opens read-only and nothing is deleted. When it’s resolved in your favor, or you pay, access returns. A chargeback found to be unjustified may also lead us to end the Subscription.
10. The DimSum Cloud add-on
DimSum Cloud isn’t available yet. When it is, these rules and the DimSum Cloud Service Terms apply.
- What it is: an optional add-on to a Workspace License, with cloud sync, storage and the Remote Workstation (remote access from another device to DimSum on your own computer; nothing is computed in our cloud).
- Two options, bought through Paddle beside the yearly Workspace License and Seats:
- Per user: for each User who has it, with up to 50 GB of storage for that User.
- Workspace package: for the whole Workspace, every User, with 1 TB of storage shared by the Workspace.
- Price, monthly or yearly: either option is billed monthly or yearly, at the price shown when you subscribe. It renews each month or year until cancelled.
- Some Seats or all: the Workspace Admin adds or cancels it in the Portal. Per-user Cloud can cover only some Seats (for example 2 of 5), and covers only the Seats bought.
- Moving to the Workspace package: the unused time on per-user Cloud comes off the package as a prorated credit.
- Cancel anytime: cancelling stops the next renewal; DimSum Cloud keeps working until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Your Workspace License isn’t affected, and DimSum keeps working on your computers.
- Your stored data after you cancel: sync and the Remote Workstation stop at the end of the paid period. Your files on your computers are untouched. The copies in your account are kept for 3 months, then deleted. We email the Workspace’s Admins right away with a link to download them, and again 7 days before they’re deleted.
- If your Workspace License lapses: your Cloud Plan keeps being charged where it can be, for a 2-month grace period, and your stored copies stay available. After that, DimSum Cloud stops and the 3-month keep above starts. If a Cloud payment fails, the Cloud Plan lapses and the 3-month keep starts. You can still get every file you own out as in section 7.
- Over the storage limit: we tell you when you reach it. You can go up to 50% over (75 GB per User, or 1.5 TB for the package) before anything happens. Past that, new uploads pause until you’re back under the limit or upgrade. Nothing is deleted. Storage used shows in DimSum and the Portal.
- No refunds: Cloud Plan charges aren’t refunded, in whole or in part, including for unused time, unused storage or a mid-term cancellation. We may give a discount or a credit instead. Section 8 doesn’t apply to DimSum Cloud. The only exceptions:
- where the law requires a refund;
- if we end it: we discontinue DimSum Cloud (Cloud Service Terms section 10.2), terminate for convenience (Terms section 13.5), end it under our infringement remedy (Terms section 16.2), or remove a major feature you’re paying for (Terms section 18.1): Paddle refunds the prepaid Cloud fees for the unused term;
- if you end a Cloud Plan because you object to a new subprocessor (Data Processing Addendum section 7.4): a pro-rata credit for the unused prepaid term, applied to your other Planbase fees, not a cash refund.
- Price changes: as in section 5, from the next renewal after at least 30 days’ notice.
11. Taxes, invoices and billing questions
- Paddle calculates and collects sales tax, VAT, GST and similar taxes at checkout, based on the billing details you give. If you’re tax-exempt or registered for VAT, give Paddle your details at checkout so it can apply them.
- Paddle issues invoices and receipts, available from the Portal’s Billing page and by email.
- For billing questions, invoices and payment methods: the Billing page in the Portal (Paddle), Paddle’s support through the link on your receipt, or support@planbaseestimating.com.
12. Complimentary Licenses
- We may give Complimentary Licenses without charge, for example to testers, partners and Planbase staff. They include every feature, aren’t billed, and don’t renew because nothing is charged.
- A tester’s Complimentary License is also governed by the Beta and Tester Agreement, which says how it can end.
- When a Complimentary License ends, the Workspace becomes read-only as in section 7, unless you buy a Subscription. Nothing is deleted.
- A Complimentary License doesn’t include DimSum Cloud unless we say so in writing.
13. Enterprise
A company with 25 or more Seats may apply for an Enterprise plan, with different prices and company-admin controls (for example holding non-critical Updates for the whole Workspace), under a separate signed order form, which wins where it differs from this policy. Enterprise prices are quoted on application.
14. Changes to this policy
We may change this policy as described in Terms section 18.2. A change to prices or refund rules applies to a Subscription from its next renewal, unless the change is in your favor.
