Pre-1.0. In private testing. Not yet for sale.

Mark it up. Take it off. Price it your way.

DimSum Takeoff is desktop software for estimators. It marks up PDF plans, takes them off, and turns every measurement into a materials list through formulas you write and can read.

Formulas

Change the wall. The estimate follows.

Draw a wall, and its studs, plates and sheathing are counted. Move it, and they're counted again, everywhere they appear.

A 100' wall at 16" on center gives 76 studs. Feet, inches and square feet convert for you, rounding is written into the formula where you can see it, and a formula with a problem shows a clear error instead of a wrong number.

Price Each = {Cost Each} * (1 + {Markup %})

DimSum doesn't impose a pricing model. Cost fields are yours to fill or drive with your own formulas.

Workflow

From PDF to parts list.

  1. Open the plan set

The first sheet is on screen right away while the rest render behind you.

  2. Set the scale

Auto Scale reads every sheet for you to confirm. Scale regions handle a detail drawn at its own scale.

  3. Take off and mark up

Walls, areas, counts, joists and beams, with Dimension Lines, clouds and notes on the same sheet.

  4. Parts roll up

Each item's parts recalculate through your formulas, matched to your own lumber lists.

  5. Report and print

Reports from the Report Designer as PDF or CSV, and the Marked-Up Plan for the customer.

Status

Where it stands today.

DimSum is pre-1.0 and in private testing on Windows. It isn't for sale yet, and it won't be until it's ready for a real estimating desk.

No testimonials or customer logos here, because there aren't any customers yet.
