DIMSUMTAKEOFF

D-301Contractors and estimators

Built for the people who bid the work.

Builders, framers, remodelers and general contractors take off their own jobs, often on sets that run to hundreds of sheets, on a deadline set by somebody else's bid date. Estimators, in-house or independent, do it all day. DimSum was built by an estimator for both.

It works for any trade, so framing, siding, roofing, insulation, drywall, doors and windows can all live in one job.

Big sets, one job Built

The whole plan set and every item in one job. Sheets grouped by level, items that run across sheets, and background pre-rendering so a 200-sheet set doesn't make you wait twice.

Framing that counts itself Built

The Joist tool lays out joists at O.C. from the edge you click, with rim board, sheathing and hangers. The Beam tool orders real stock lengths. The Wall tool frames walls and what they sit on, and the Siding and Sheathing tools count what goes on them.

Your material lists and prices Built

Import your supplier's lists and your own prices as CSV. Advanced Parts pick the right item by species, size and length, and flag it when nothing on the list fits.

Your company's tools Built

Tools with your formulas, in a library file you control and copy to every estimator. Change a tool and your jobs are offered the update.

Material lists ready to send Built

Design the material list in the Report Designer, as a plain Courier count sheet or a branded bid, and print it or export PDF and CSV to send to your supplier for pricing.

Out to your other systems Coming

Export profiles that map a report straight into the columns your accounting, ERP or job-costing import expects.

A marked-up plan for the customer Built

Send the owner, the GC or the crew the marked-up sheets, with Dimension Lines, clouds and notes, so they see what you took off.

The company's reports, everywhere Coming

Build the company's report once and share it to the Workspace defaults folder. Every estimator has it.

A one-page Framing Package report: lumber, engineered lumber, hardware and openings by division, with quantity, item number, description, cost each and extended, and a grand total
A priced material list from the Report Designer, on a made-up demo job with made-up prices.

A seat for every estimator.

When a seat is expensive, estimators share one. At $400 per added seat, everyone gets their own.

Every seat has every feature, and each is active on 2 machines, so desktop and laptop both work. Only the Workspace admin adds seats.

Plans stay on your machines.

Owners and GCs send you plans on trust. DimSum keeps them on your machines: no AI reads them, and crash reports never carry plan content. Customers get reports and marked-up plans, never your working file.

Your data

Not a framer?

Every trade uses the same tools. The framing smarts are tools on top of a core that assumes nothing about your trade; build your own for concrete, roofing, low-voltage or landscaping.
